Determining large-strain metal plasticity parameters using in situ measurements of plastic flow past a wedge

چکیده

We present a novel approach to determine the constitutive properties of metals under large plastic strains and strain rates that otherwise are difficult access using conventional materials testing methods. The exploits large-strain flow past sharp wedge, coupled with high-speed photography image velocimetry capture underlying dynamics. inverse problem estimating material parameters from field is solved an iterative optimization procedure minimizes gap between internal external work. A major advantage method it neither makes any assumptions about nor requires computational simulations. To counter non-unique parameter estimates, we propose parameterization scheme takes functional form model reformulates into more tractable identify plasticity uniquely. studies illustrate principle two widely different characteristics: copper (strain hardening) lead-free solder alloy (rate sensitive deformation history dependent). results demonstrate efficacy in reliably determining high strain/strain rate conditions relevance range practical engineering problems.

Unsteady boundary layer flow of a Casson fluid past a wedge with wall slip velocity

In this paper an analysis is presented to understand the effect of non–Newtonian rheology, velocity slip at the boundary, thermal radiation, heat absorption/generation and first order chemical reaction on unsteady MHD mixed convective heat and mass transfer of Casson fluid past a wedge in the presence of a transverse magnetic field with variable electrical conductivity. The partial differential...

Large strain anisotropic plasticity including effects of plastic spin

A constitutive theory for orthotropic materials is briefly summarized. The constitutive theory allows for anisotropy of the elastic response and anisotropy resulting from both the yield function and the kinematic hardening. The formulation also includes a constitutive theory, thermodynamically consistent, for the plastic spin and the re-orientation of the anisotropy properties towards a more fa...

A Strain Range Dependent Cyclic Plasticity Model

Hysteresis loop curves are highly important for numerical simulations of materials deformation under cyclic loadings. The models mainly take account of only the tensile half of the stabilized cycle in hysteresis loop for identification of the constants which don’t vary with accumulation of plastic strain and strain range of the hysteresis loop. This approach may be quite erroneous particularly ...

Determining Electrical and Heat Transfer Parameters Using Coupled Boundary Measurements

Let Ω ⊂ R, n ≥ 3, be a smooth bounded domain and consider a coupled system in Ω consisting of a conductivity equation ∇ · γ(x)∇u(t, x) = 0 and an anisotropic heat equation κ(x)∂tψ(t, x) = ∇ · (A(x)∇ψ(t, x)) + (γ∇u(t, x)) · ∇u(t, x), t ≥ 0. It is shown that the coefficients γ, κ and A = (ajk) are uniquely determined from the knowledge of the boundary map u|∂Ω 7→ ν ·A∇ψ|∂Ω, where ν is the unit ou...
